Privacy policy
Effective July 6, 2026
The short version
Vibecatcher stores the scraps you bring in so you can get them back, shows them to the people you choose, and nothing more. We do not sell your data, we do not run ads, and we do not track you around the internet.
What we collect
Your account. A name, an email address, and a password (stored hashed, never in plain text). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google instead.
Your scraps. The audio, images, video, and text you upload or type. This is the product; we store it so you can keep it.
Payment details, if you buy a paid plan. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number; we keep only your subscription status and billing history.
Technical crumbs. Server logs, error reports, and performance traces so we can keep the service healthy. Error reports may include a replay of the session where the error happened. Printed QR codes that point at vibecatcher log the scan (time, browser type, and the page that linked) so creators can see that their paper travelled.
Where it lives
Your data is stored with Google Cloud (application hosting and media files) and Neon (database), in the United States. Error monitoring runs through Sentry and performance tracing through Honeycomb; both receive technical data, not your password.
Who can see your scraps
Your vibes are private by default. They become visible to others only when you act: sending a vibe creates a link that anyone holding it can open, and casting a vibe publishes it on the public casts page. Un-sharing removes the link; deleting removes the content.
Cookies and local storage
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and your browser’s local storage to keep your work available offline. No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, ever.
The iOS app
The Vibecatcher iOS app asks for microphone access (to record voice memos), photo library access (to attach pictures and videos), and camera access (to shoot new ones). Each permission is used only for the feature you invoked and can be revoked in iOS Settings. The app talks to the same servers as the website and collects nothing extra.
Deleting your things
You can delete any scrap, vibelette, or vibe from inside the app, and deletion is immediate. You can also delete your entire account, and everything in it, from Settings in the iOS app; that removes your uploaded files too, immediately. Or email halzinnia@gmail.com from your account address and we will remove it within 30 days.
Children
Vibecatcher is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes and questions
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page with a new effective date. Questions go to halzinnia@gmail.com.
